Guys and Gals, the Nowra Comp is not far away. Attached is all the info & rules that you will need to know. Only thing left is for you to book your accomodation as the Club does not do it for this comp. Please see or contact me if you wish to register. NOWRA SPORTFISHING CLUB INC 32nd ANNUAL SPORTFISHING CONVENTION VENUE: Gateway to the Banks Caravan Park, Crookhaven Heads DATE: 6.00am Friday 19 February 2010 to 12 Noon Sunday 21 February 2010 ENTRY FEES: Uncatered Senior $20.00 Uncatered Junior $10.00 NB: Uncatered Fees DO NOT INCLUDE CAMP SITE FEES. These are to be paid on arrival at the office. FISHING RULES: As per the ANSA rulebook. PLEASE NOTE: 1 kg line class will not be eligible in any section fishing from a boat in the ocean (including Jervis Bay) in this convention. Sharks and Rays are only eligible in Tagging for this convention. All lines, doubles, traces or leaders may be subject to measurement as weigh masters and recorders see fit. It is not the intention of this rule to cast aspersions on the integrity of the anglers. FRIDAY NIGHT BRIEFING: A briefing for competitors by a local identity regarding rules, weather conditions and restrictions on any events due to inclement weather will be held on Friday 19 February 2010 at 7 pm. A form is available at the check in tent for boat owners to complete detailing name, address, phone numbers, emergency contact, boat description, rego details of boat - car - trailer. On the form is also a temporary SA number for the Shoalhaven Marine Rescue Association for use over the weekend. BOUNDARIES: North Blackhead (Gerroa Headland) South Sussex Inlet FINAL WEIGH IN: 12 Noon SHARP Sunday 21 February 2010. All fish not in the roped off area by that time will be disqualified. CAPTURES: Must score a minimum of 50 ANSA POINTS to be eligible for weighing. Juniors and Sub-juniors minimum 30 points. SAFETY: All boats must comply with the safety requirements as laid down at any time by the NSW Waterways. Any boat owner not complying with the regulations will risk disqualification. The Nowra Sportfishing Club Inc and the NSW branch of ANSA will not be responsible for any accidents or injury during the entire convention and competitors enter entirely at their own risk. All boat, car and trailer registrations are required by VMR Shoalhaven when checking in for the convention. PROTESTS: Any protest must be in writing and handed to a member of the Nowra Sportfishing Club Inc committee by midnight of that particular day, except on the final day when they must be handed in by 12.30 pm. Competitors are requested to observe etiquette both at sea, in proximity to other boats and in harbour. All convention competitors must comply with any rule laid down by any Statutory Authority. AWARDS PLEASE NOTE: Lady, Junior and Sub-junior should nominate the section they wish to enter their fish in, eg Open, Lady, Junior or Sub-junior. Final decisions on all awards shall be at the discretion of the organizers. The awards shall be as follows: BLUEWATER GAME: This trophy will be presented to the highest point scoring capture by an angler fishing from a vessel anywhere outside enclosed waters. Jervis Bay shall be considered as blue water. 1 kg line will not be eligible in this section fishing from a boat in the ocean including Jervis Bay. ROCKS: This trophy will be presented to the highest point scoring capture by an angler fishing from a rocky outcrop, ledge or headland anywhere on the oceanfront. The rocks inside Jervis Bay shall be included in this section. FLYFISHING: This trophy will be presented to the highest point scoring fish caught either in salt or freshwater using conventional flycasting tackle. 1 kg line will not be eligible in this section fishing from a boat in the ocean including Jervis Bay. ESTUARY: This trophy will be presented to the highest point scoring capture by an angler fishing from the shore or vessel in enclosed waters, estuarine waters, saltwater creeks, lagoon and salt marshes up to the beginning of non-tidal freshwater. BEACH: This trophy will be presented to the highest point scoring capture by an angler fishing from sand or gravel beaches, coves and bars anywhere on the ocean front. The beaches inside Jervis Bay shall be included in this section. LADIES: This trophy will be presented to the highest point scoring capture by a lady angler fishing from the shore or a vessel. Should a lady win any of the open sections, she shall not be eligible for this trophy with the same fish. 1 kg line will not be eligible in this section fishing from a boat in the ocean including Jervis Bay. JUNIOR: This trophy will be presented to the highest point scoring capture by any angler less than 16 years of age at the time of the capture. The same conditions apply as with the ladies capture. 1 kg line will not be eligible in this section fishing from a boat in the ocean including Jervis Bay. SUB-JUNIOR: This trophy will be presented to the highest point scoring capture by any angler less than 10 years of age at the time of capture. The same conditions apply as with the ladies and junior captures. 1 kg line will not be eligible in this section fishing from a boat in the ocean including Jervis Bay. HEAVIEST SPECIES TROPHIES: SNAPPER FLATHEAD BREAM These trophies will be awarded to the heaviest of each of these three species caught regardless of line class. NB: Fish weighed in this section will not be eligible for Champion Club Points. CHAMPION CLUB: This trophy will be presented to the club with the highest aggregate point score. All sections are eligible for this trophy except the Heaviest Species, Most Meritorious and Conservation. Aggregate point scores will be evaluated as follows: The five (5) highest point scoring fish of each section shall be awarded points on a 5-4-3-2-1 basis. For tag and release it shall be five (5) highest point scoring anglers. The points so awarded in each section shall be totalled and the club having the highest aggregate shall win. MOST MERITORIOUS CAPTURE: This capture will be decided upon by the convention committee. It need not be a winner of any section. The tackle, conditions and any extenuating circumstances will be considered in the decision, so please give the recorder all details of capture. TAGGING: This trophy will be awarded as per the ANSA system for tagging masters using game tags on eligible species Maximum of 100 points per species as per ANSA NSW tagging list. COMPOSITE TEAM EVENT: Each team is to consist of four members randomly drawn from all the entries received for the convention. Details will be available on check in. This event is not included in the champion club trophy. RADIO: VMR Shoalhaven will be listening on 27.900 and will expect all boats to call this channel to log on and off. 27.880 will be monitored for distress calls ONLY. 27.940 and 27.960 only to be used from boat to boat. The convention committee will monitor 27.940 for personal messages and progress reports. Call sign CONVENTION. All boat users to give details of their boat including Registration No. and Car and Trailer registrations when checking in as these are required by VMR Shoalhaven for safety purposes. PRESENTATION: Approx. 1.30 pm Sunday. A sausage sizzle will be provided prior to the presentation. People requiring on site vans or to contact the caravan park phone 02 4447 2849 and book early. NOTES TO REMEMBER 1. Being a sportfishing convention we have a minimum of 50 ANSA points per fish to be eligible for recording 30 points for Junior and Sub-junior. 2. Please remember that you belong to an ANSA club and dispose of your rubbish properly excessive noise and loutish behaviour could result in the offending club being penalised. 3. Park rules allow no animals. 4. Any fish not in the roped off area by 12 noon Sunday will not be eligible. 5. It is the policy of the Nowra Sportfishing Club Inc that one fish can win only one trophy, eg highest point scoring lady will not be eligible for highest point scoring bluewater. 6. Due to regulations governing sale and supply of alcohol, this convention will now be BYO alcohol. 7. The Nowra Sportfishing Club Inc takes no responsibility for the weather. 8. Each angler may be queried on the brand and labelled breaking strain of their line. If any doubt exists in the mind of the committee, a sampling may be requested and the trophy withheld pending official testing. 9. The tails of fish will be nipped on weighing, so please identify your fish in some other manner. 10. Late entries Thursday night will be able to register until midnight and then not before 5.00 am Friday morning. 11.
