Proposed Currarong Boat Launching Ramp - Supporting Comments Required by 14th August 2009.
The following are links to a review of environmental factors for a proposed new boat ramp at Currarong, just north of Jervis Bay. This is an area that we have fished for over 20 years and would love to see a new ramp in the area to use as an access point for fishing the Banks and areas like Beecroft. The online submission takes less than 2 minutes to complete. A decent boat ramp would open up some more options for sportfishers in the area. Make some time to fill it in.

Comments:
On behalf of the members of South Sydney Amateur Fishing Association I would like to offer our support for the proposed new boat ramp at Currarong that Shoalhaven City Council has on public display.
As a club who has fished the area for over 30 years on an annual basis and as a club of anglers who continually fish the area surrounding Currarong on many occasions throughout each and every year, upgrading the ramp is something that is well overdue.
As anglers who tow boats down from Sydney on a regular basis, our only options are to face a bar crossing at Shoalhaven Heads, struggle with the tide at Callala Bay or tow our boats an additional 40 minutes to Murray's Beach. Another suitable ramp would also offer anglers more options from a boating safety aspect. Do we need to drive that additional 40 minutes towing a boat, do we have to run the gauntlet over a bar, or do we even have to extend our stay on the water until the tide turns at the bar entrance or untill there is enough water at the ramp to retrieve our boats. Having Currarong boat ramp as an option would allow boat owners to eliminate some of the more riskier aspects of boating and fishing in the area.
We also encourage the Council to apply under the NSW Maritime Better Boating Program and the NSW Recreational Fishing Trust for fish cleaning facilities and congratulate the Council in following through this worthwhile upgrade of the ramp.
